Dear Friend,

As the month of Nissan approaches, many families within our community are faced with the daunting prospect of Pesach expenses that are simply beyond their means. The existence of poverty within the community is an experience that our Sages were acutely aware of. Indeed, the Shulchan Aruch notes the long-established custom of our forebears to provide for the Pesach needs of the less fortunate amongst us with Maot Chittim (or Kimcha d'Pischa).

The Melbourne Jewish Charity Fund (MJCF) has distributed funds to all corners of the community for over 25 years and is now the single largest provider of non-aged welfare to the Melbourne Jewish Community. Run by a group of honorary laypeople, the MJCF prides itself on the fact that over 95% of donations go directly to our recipients.

This appeal will provide assistance to over 190 families specifically for Pesach. The funds will also be utilised to support our various subsidy programs (rent, utilities, food etc.) that provide year round welfare to over 320 families.

Wishing you and your family a Pesach Kasher v’Sameach,

Yitzchok Feiglin
Chairman, MJCF
